Media teacher starts soap company

Media, Pennsylvania teacher Amanda Maraz recently launched her own company called Living Hands, which is an environmentally-conscious company dedicated to producing natural soaps and shampoos in order to battle against plastic waste.

Maraz, having a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences and a childhood in which both her aunt and her mother produced their own soaps, came up with the idea to start her own line of homemade soaps and shampoos when she realized how much plastic waste she was accumulating while her and her family were using traditional store-bought soaps and shampoos.

She now produces products made of 100% natural ingredients such as shea butter and therapeutic essential oils and puts them into Packaging that is either reusable or recyclable to ensure that none of her products leave any waste. Some of the products that can be found on her website include ‘True Grit’, a soap made with pumice and shea butter to exfoliate and rejuvenate skin and ‘Verdant’, a soap designed for both the hands and the boy with relaxing eucalyptus and lavender essential oils.
