Media hosts annual festive light display

The Festival of Lights for Delaware County is currently taking place in Rose Tree Park in Media.

Those who attend the Festival will be able to see dozens of festive figures, including a gingerbread family and a toy soldier, over 75 lighted trees, and Santa Claus’ reindeer. Director of Delaware County Parks and Recreation, Marc Manfre, expressed his thrill at being able to hold this event in Rose Tree Park both this year and in years past. He said that it is a favorite event in the community and residents of all ages have made it a holiday tradition. Poster printing is often used to promote such popular events as this one.

Elaine Paul Schaefer, Delaware County Councilwoman, added that this a safe and fun way for those in the community to get into the holiday spirit and enjoy the beautiful display. In addition to new safety measures, the park will be opened for an extra hour each night for those who want to avoid peak hours in the park.

The Festival of Lights began over 40 years ago as part of the celebration of the bicentennial of the country, and now has become an event residents look forward to every year. The Festival of Lights runs through Sunday, January 3 and the hours are 5:00 to 10:00 pm.
