Holiday crafting celebrates Ukrainian culture near Aston
Artists and craft enthusiasts will want to save the date for an upcoming event, as a cultural crafting workshop is planning a visit near Aston.
The Ukrainian Holiday Pysanky Eggs Spring Decorating event has an official date and will begin welcoming interested parties to learn about a new culture and gain new skills in a few weeks. The workshop is being organized by Jester Artspace, a group that aims to help the Aston community connect through the arts.
The course will be led by local artist Susan Benarcik, and the available spots in the class are expected to be filled up quickly. Benarcik will demonstrate how to cover the eggs in successive layers of wax and dyes to create beautiful eggs for decor and gifts. Brochure printing can help students in such workshops retain more information and continue learning and practicing at home.
Students will use raw eggs, which will not spoil as long as the shell beneath the wax does not crack. All patterns and design materials will be provided with the ticket price. Advanced students are welcome to bring more eggs to decorate from home, and a safety container is recommended.
The workshop will be held on Saturday, April 12th, at the Jester Artspace in nearby Wilmington. Doors open at 9:00 AM, and the session ends at noon. Tickets are $70 online.
