Hazardous waste collection event coming to Media

Residents in Media, Pennsylvania, and surrounding areas will be able to dispose of their hazardous household waste is a responsible way later this month.

The types of hazardous household waste that will be accepted for disposal at the event include gasoline, pesticides, weed killer products, anything containing mercury, paint thinner, kerosene, varnish, paints that are oil-based, antifreeze, motor oil, fungicides, rechargeable batteries, cell phones, lead acid batteries, and lithium batteries.

Despite the fact that cell phones and batteries will be accepted for recycling, other electronics in general will not be accepted. Neither will any type of waste that comes from the household but cannot be identified by those working at the hazardous household waste collection event.

The hazardous waste collection will be taking place on Sunday, September 17 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Penn State University Brandywine Campus on 25 Yearsley Mill Road. It is recommended that those who plan on going to the event enter the campus via the main entrance, which is located at the traffic light on Route 532.
