Plein Air Festival takes place near Bala Cynwyd

For the 12th year in a row, the Wayne Art Center Plein Air Festival took place near Bala Cynwyd at the beginning of May.

During the festival, a group of 32 artists created more than 250 landscape paintings. Each of the artists distinguished and recognized in their own rights and they come from across the US, including the Midwest, West Coast, and all along the East Coast.

As the Plein Air Festival has become more well-known and established, the number of applicants for the artists' spots has increased. Arts festivals can use printing services to create the applications for admission.

Out-of-town artists who landed a spot in the festival were housed by patrons of the art center and by members of the festival's committee. The artists were chosen by John Cosby, who also served as the judge for the artworks created during the event.

During the festival, the 32 artists were told to paint within a 25-mile radius of Wayne during the first few days. They ended up producing scenes from local neighborhoods as well as pastoral paintings from area parks and rural areas.

The resulting painting are on display at the art center and will be up through June 30. The gallery is open to the public on weekdays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and on Saturdays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
