Bala Cynwyd attends cordage weaving class

Weaving is a practice that combines art with functionality, and a Bala Cynwyd area session will teach a new crop of weavers how to get started.

The beginner-friendly Cordage Basket Weaving workshop, which has been organized by the Philadelphia Guild of Weavers, will teach the fundamentals of working with plant based fibers. While they work, the attendees will find out how weaving can be beneficial for those interested in mindfulness, and the learning will be delivered over two sessions.

The participants will begin by preparing a plant rope by twisting fibers of various lengths, These will then be used to prepare a cordage basket by coiling, and everyone can take their project home with them. They will find out how weaving can help to calm and quiet their mind, and both of the workshops scheduled will run for two and half hours. The supplies needed will be provided, and it will be facilitated by Sarah Beard. Anyone interested may sign up now, and they may also choose to gift a registration to someone special.

There are lots of learning opportunities open to the public, and many organizers choose to include theirs in community guides and other event listing publications. These can be prepared by a brochure printing company for distribution to area households.

The Philadelphia Guild of Handweavers will be offering this introduction to cordage weaving at its Guild House located at 3705 Main Street in Manayunk. The classes will take place on March 21st and March 28th.
