Bala Cynwyd invited to attend sewing sessions

Bala Cynwyd residents who are looking for a new hobby are invited to attend a two-part workshop that will introduce them to the joys of sewing their own wardrobe.

Late February will see the Garment Sewing Workshop create a new crop of sewists, and both days will run for seven hours. It will be a fun and supportive environment. People who want to sign up are asked to have a basic knowledge of using a sewing machine.

The participants will each be preparing one or two garments, and it will teach the fundamentals of sewing their own clothing. Fabric selection, pattern fitting, sewing techniques and seam finishes are all on the agenda.

A supply list has been prepared, including fabric, a portable sewing machine, patterns, interfacing, and other materials, and a full listing will be sent out closer to the activity’s scheduled date.

A hands-on class offers an opportunity to learn new skills and enhance current ones. Copies of handouts and other learning materials can be prepared by Stationery printers, which will have a variety of options available for their customers.

Manayunk’s Guild House, which is at 3705 Main Street, will be welcoming registrants for these sewing sessions, which will kick off on Saturday, February 21 and conclude the following Saturday, February 28. Both sessions will start at 10:00 am. If no spaces are available, those interested can add their name to the wait list.
