High school near Bala Cynwyd to offer new engineering program

Across the US, more than 11,000 schools have begun offering an engineering program to students from preschool up until 12th grade. Archbishop John Carroll High School, near Bala Cynwyd, will become the first private school in the Philadelphia region to introduce the program.

The high school will introduce ‘Project Lead the Way’ to students in the fall of 2019.

Project Lead the Way is the work of a nonprofit organization. It aims to provide an interactive learning experience in engineering to students. The high school portion of its program sees students working together on real-life projects and activities. Students in the program are encouraged to come up with solutions to challenges that affect their local community and the wider world around them.

School officials and teachers can use poster printing when introducing new programs. Posters can let students know about new offerings at a school and can also help to keep parents up-to-date about what is going on and what options are available to their students.

Project Lead the Way at Carroll High School is being funded with gifts from the Heim family and the Mita family, and with a grant from the Chappell Culpeper Foundation.

Anchen Schulz, the principal of the high school, hopes that the program will make the high school an attractive option for students in the area, and anticipates it transforming the school's STEM program.
