Bala Cynwyd gardeners invited to learn benefits of compost tea

Savvy gardeners know the value of good soil, and a Bala Cynwyd area workshop will share ways they can make compost tea and biochar parts of their yearly gardening routine.

The Philadelphia Orchard Project works throughout the community to help grow fresh produce in urban areas, often on “brownfields” and other abandoned plots. Compost tea and biochar can make a difference in the depleted soils that can often be found in these sorts of sites, and can be useful for home gardeners as well.

Two of the group’s representatives will be hosting the workshop, and they will discuss how to make these two soil amendments and also how and when they should be used. They will also find out more about how they have been utilized in the past to make plots more productive, and they can be used when growing fruits, veggies, or almost any other produce.

This type of educational event tends to include a lot of information. Offering printed instructions and recipes for the soil amendments being discussed can help attendees apply what they have learned in their own garden, and a printing services company can provide these sorts of materials.

Bala Cynwyd green thumbs who are interested in making their beds as productive as they can are welcome to register for this class, which will be held on September 8 at 4000 Woodland Avenue in Philadelphia.
