Bala Cynwyd gardeners have a wealth of choices open to them when it comes to selecting plants for their beds, and a workshop will help them choose cultivars that may be especially attractive to local pollinators.
Pollinators need more than just flowers to survive, and the Powerful Pollinator Plants session will supply an introduction to creating a habitat that invites them into a garden, from the ground up. The two-hour activity will be led by Jenkins Arboretum’s Nicki Archer, and both members and non-members are welcome.
During the workshop, there will be discussion of how selecting native plants that offer more than just flowers can really draw in the bees, butterflies, moths, and birds that make effective pollinators. They will find out which species and cultivars of plants attract particular types of visitors, and they will also be taught how supplying shelter, a water source, and other habitats will make them feel even more welcome.
A gardening workshop gives both newbies and green thumbs alike time to learn and get to know others who share their love of growing. A brochure printing company will be happy to prepare handouts for a variety of activities.
The Jenkins Arboretum and Gardens has added this introduction to the art of attracting pollinators to its calendar, and it will take place at 631 Berwyn Baptist Road in Devon on March 4, starting at 10:00 am.
