The Ambler campus of Temple University is opening a new business outreach center.
It will offer new businesses the training needed to start and manage a company. Veterans can attend at no charge, as the aptly named Outreach Center is geared toward veterans who want to start their own businesses.
According to the Small Business Development Center's director Maura Shenker, veterans often to do not have the credit history needed for success and this is a significant problem. Individuals in the military who have served in a war have often not had time or opportunity to establish credit in the same way as civilians can, such as by buying a house or a car, and paying large bills within the time limits such as utilities and cable.
Shenker adds that the Outreach Center can provide office space equipped with Wi-Fi, computers, and printers. It can also help veterans find funding in alternative ways to a loan at a traditional bank. Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) are banks that operate on a nonprofit basis, and from them, veterans can get a character loan, which is judged by a person's history in life and not a credit score.
The Outreach Center will take applications until May 31. New businesses like this need effective Logo Design to catch the attention of customers while making clear the products and services they offer.
