Community camping to take place at Temple Ambler

Temple Ambler is hosting an overnight campout this fall.

The event is intended to introduce attendees to camping and related outdoor activities while celebrating the benefits of connecting with nature and wildlife. It will include a nature-inspired crafting space, outdoor games, guided and self-guided tours of the Ambler Arboretum and a presentation on reptiles, insects and amphibians. Camping-themed activities will include a camping 101 session, nighttime orienteering with the Delaware Valley Orienteering Association and a stargazing talk and session. Participants will each receive a s’mores kit, and there will be an evening campfire sing-along and storytelling from Chief Adam “Waterbear” DePaul of the Lenape Nation.

Those planning to attend can register on Temple Ambler’s website. The fee is $35 per campsite, or $15 for current Temple students. Each site is limited to one tent and up to six people. Participants need to bring their own tents, but help with setup will be available. Food trucks will be open from 5 pm to 7 pm with dinner available for purchase, and a light breakfast will be served on Sunday morning. Universities often use flyer printing services to promote their public events. The campout will go on rain or shine, and pets and alcohol are not permitted.

The Temple Ambler Campout will take place from Saturday, September 27, to Sunday, September 28. Registration opens at 2 pm on Saturday.
