The "Fanciest 5K Ever" is set to take place this November in Salem.
For this race participants are encouraged to wear formal attire, such as tuxedos, gowns, or tiaras while raising funds for Safety Compass. Safety Compass is a nonprofit that supports survivors of the sex trade in Oregon's Mid-Willamette Valley. The event will include both a physical race, starting at West Coast Strength, and an online option for participants worldwide.
The participants will follow a 5K course that passes through Wallace Marine Park, and Riverfront Park, and return to West Coast Strength to finish the race and for an awards ceremony. Awards will be given to top finishers, best fundraisers, and the fanciest outfits.
Those unable to attend in person can participate virtually by completing a 5K run anytime between the 12th and 19th of November. Virtual participants will also have the opportunity to submit their race photos and times for a chance to win prizes. Finisher medals will be sent after the event.
The cost to participate in the physical and online events will be $30 respectively, however, the price will increase to $40 after September 30th.
For more information on how to participate, fundraise, or volunteer, attendees can visit the event’s official listing.

The in-person races will take place on Saturday, November 9th from 10 am to 12 pm at 290 Moyer Lane North West, Salem, Oregon.
