Beethoven concert brings modern twist to Salem

The Oregon Symphony is bringing Ludwig van Beethoven into the 21st Century with a show at Salem’s Smith Auditorium.

The Exhilarating Beethoven concert will feature his Seventh Symphony, an energetic work organizers say is an “ode to the power of dance,” which will be brought to life by Conductor David Danzmayr.

Beethoven’s Violin Concerto, as envisioned by Violinist Clara-Jumi Kang, will also be part of the concert. The more modern Fiesta! by Jimmy Lopez will be among of the musical offerings too, which include a blending of genres such as Latin music, techno and pop. Classical concerts like these may need brochure printing for audience programs and poster printing for promotional purposes.

The Oregon Symphony does not have a strict dress code, as its website indicates, “casual clothes are just fine.” However, organizers do encourage people to dress up if they find it fun. To maintain a traditional sense for classical music concerts, experts recommend gowns for women and suits for men. For a more informal and low-key option, smart dress pants with a shirt or blouse may be ideal. Flowing dresses for women and wearing well-fitted suits for men can allow them to move freely.

Exhilarating Beethoven by the Oregon Symphony is playing at the Smith Auditorium on Friday, January 17. The show starts at 7:30 pm.
