Sustainable festival brews in Portland

Next week, Individuals in Portland can enjoy a four-day festival that celebrates beer and sustainability.

The 11th Annual North American Organic Brewers Festival will offer beer from 35 breweries. There will also be food trucks selling organic food choices such as dumplings, pizza, and vegetarian fare.

Along with refreshments, guests can enjoy live entertainment and check out vendors and non-profits dedicated to sustainability. Banner printing is one way event organizers can create signs to welcome attendees to the festival.

Kids can check out the children’s zone, where they can get their faces painted and take part in artistic activities. A root beer garden will be available for all minors and those designated to drive.

Admission is free, but those who want to purchase beer will need to buy a $7 compostable cup. Tokens cost $1 each and a beer is four tokens, and payment must be in cash.

Volunteers who are at least 21 years old are needed. They will be given beer tokens along with a festival T-shirt and cup.

The festival takes place from August 13 through August 15 from noon until 9:00 pm, and August 16 from noon until 5:00 pm.

The event will be held in Overlook Park, located at North Fremont Street and Interstate Avenue. Designated parking is not available and attendees are encouraged to bike, walk, or take the city’s rail system.
