Portland sailing event to take place for last time
The town of Portland will host its annual river revel again this July, although this will be its final year.
The event, known as The Big Float, sees hundreds of residents come together each year to travel down the city's river. The event is charity focused, and for this occasion, its proceeds will go to benefit the Human Access Project, which is an effort by residents to preserve and protect the river while gaining a deeper appreciation for it. They do this by hosting clean-ups and other activities.
After a decade-long run, the affair will also mark the closing of the event. The Big Float was originally launched as a fundraiser for the Human Access Project. With its initial goals achieved, it now seeks to end the initiative.
Those attending the event must register and can do so for a discounted price of $10 until June 30, after which prices increase to $13. Prices for children remain $6. Each guest must bring their own lifejackets (which are mandatory) and float devices. These are also available for purchase online after registration.
Flyer printing can prove a useful way to advertise at events such as these.
This event will happen on Sunday, July 10 at the Tom McCall Waterfront Park, located at 98 SW Naito Parkway, Portland, Oregon. It begins at 11:00 am and ends at 6:30 pm.
