Suburban Portland getting first Voodoo Doughnut by years end

Voodoo Doughnut is expanding into suburban Portland, but not in the usual direction.

The 24-hour provider of sweet treats such as maple-bacon bars is opening its first shop in Milwaukie, a Portland suburb. However, the shop will not be south of the city towards Lake Oswego or westward to Beaverton as other popular food brands such as Salt & Straw and Oven & Shaker have chosen to go. Instead, Voodoo Doughnut’s new Portland area location will be at 14620 SE Mcloughlin Blvd in the neighborhood of Oak Grove, Milwaukie, which was formally a Starbucks.

Banner printing is often utilized to promote a new location at the new sit and prior to its opening.

Voodoo founders Tres Shannon and Kenneth Pogson, also known as “Cat Daddy”, opened the original location in 2003. The business quickly became recognized for its unusual flavors, pink Boxes, and on-location marriage ceremonies.

Chris Schultz, former CEO of Mod Pizza, is now managing the chain and is familiar with the Oakland neighborhood from his days with MOD. He described the community has having lots of homes, and being in a direct line for those in the area who work in Portland.

The Milwaukie location, which will be the 10th for the chain, is anticipated to hire over 50 people prior to its opening before the end of 2019.
