The Washington Post recently released a new ranking of the top 50 airports and out of the over 450 airports evaluated Portland International Airport (PDX) was rated the best in the country.
A mix of data analysis and passenger recommendations were used to arrive at their ranking and after sorting through over 2,300 responses from the paper’s readers a common thread emerged of what travelers like in an airport. Flyers are looking for recently renovated, easily navigable hubs with high ceilings and lots of light and PDX nailed every one of these. Moreover, while some airports excelled at the culinary choices they offered while others offered impressive scenic views, PDX scored high in both of these categories.
In describing its No. 1 pick the Washington Post noted the impressive architecture, huge video walls and stadium-style benches. The excellent food choices were also mentioned and the unusually not sky-high prices.
Airports are excellent locations for chambers of commerce or even individual businesses in the entertainment and hospitality industries to place promotional materials supplied to them by brochure printing services.
The remainder of the top five airports in the United States, according to the Washington Post were Long Beach at No. 2, Reagan National in D.C. coming in at No. 3, and Minneapolis-St. Paul and Paine Field in Seattle taking the No. 4 and No. 5 spots respectively.
The next phase of the PDX $2.15 billion remodel should conclude in early 2026.
