Most of the units will be for those households with incomes below 60 percent of the area’s median income; however, five units will be reserved for those earning under 30 percent. Construction on the project is estimated to take 15 months. Per developers Gorman & Company, it is anticipated that construction will be completed by summer 2026.
Residential construction invites business investment; promotional printing and other services provided by Print shops help those entrepreneurs quickly establish themselves.
Duncan Hwang the community development director of Asian Pacific American Network of Oregon (APANO), a nonprofit, explained the area where the development will be located is near 82nd Avenue. This is one of the Jade District’s last underdeveloped areas, which is why his nonprofit has had its eye on the area for low-economy housing for over a decade explained Hwang to KPTV saying:
“We’re going to have sidewalks. We’re going to have streets. There’s going to be something here rather than just abandoned buildings. It’s better than just this underutilized lot. 82nd will look very different.”
According to Hwang the goal of the project, in addition to providing low-cost housing, is to turn 82nd Avenue into a safe, business-friendly civic corridor.
