Cinnamon Bear makes holiday return via Portland Spirit

Cinnamon Bear and other characters from Maybeland will be performing on the Portland Spirit during a two-hour excursion down the Willamette River on weekends during December.

Portland families have a long history with Cinnamon Bear and his friends, starting during the holiday season of 1937 when a radio program penned by Glanville and Elizabeth Heisch was first broadcast. For many years it was a holiday tradition in many Portland homes to listen to the 26-chapter series as an audio advent calendar counting down the days to Christmas.

Here in Portland, Lipman and Wolfe Stores, which sponsored the radio broadcasts, played host to Cinnamon Bear during the 1940s – 1980s. Much like Santa Claus, many children in the area paid a visit to Cinnamon Bear and received a highly sought after cinnamon cookie. During the 1950s, Lipman’s started the tradition of Cinnamon Bear Breakfasts for children including musical performances.

Poster printing services are particularly helpful for informing the public about special events during the holiday season.

Portland Spirit cruises is bringing back Cinnamon Bear and his friends for today’s children and their parents complete with breakfast and entertainment for the holiday season. Starting November 30 and running each weekend throughout December the Portland Spirit will offer 2-hour cruises during which families can enjoy a plated breakfast with reserved seating and be entertained by storytelling, music and magic. Ticket prices include for those 12 and under a printed picture with Cinnamon Bear sitting on his magical throne.
