Theater in Lake Oswego seeks student reviewers

The Student Reviewer Program is returning to the Lakewood Center for the Arts in Lake Oswego. This is a program that provides an opportunity for students in the area to see and review productions at the theater.

This program is open to all students in middle school, high school, and college who live in the metropolitan Portland area. There is no formal process to become part of this program, but extra credit is often given to middle or high school students in their theater and English classes for completing a review. Students in college who are studying dance, English, performing arts, journalism, or music can apply to the program for class credit or personal study.

A discounted $20 ticket is given to student reviewers for the first show that they attend and review. After that, they receive two complimentary tickets to any show of the season.

Flyer printing is one way to promote such programs and their benefits throughout a region.

Executive director of the Lakewood Theatre Company, Steve Knox, said that most of those in the company started their careers in high school as having the chance to view the work and performances of others is very important. He added that those in the theater are always something of a critic as they have an appreciation of good work, as well as work that needs improvement.
