A series of free Urban and Community Forestry Workshops are being offered by the city of Lake Oswego.
These workshops require pre-registration and the number of people per workshop is limited with preference given to residents of Lake Oswego. Poster printing is often used to promote such workshops throughout a city.
The first workshops this month will be focused on Tree Species Identification. Todd Prager of Todd Prager & Associates, who is an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist, will lead this particular session. It will identify and discuss common invasive and native tree species by means of a walking tour through Geore Rogers Park.
The concepts, common terms, and techniques used in the identification of trees will be discussed to help attendees become familiar with how to identify a tree. This workshop will be from 10:00 am to noon on Saturday, August 10.
The next workshop will be on Tree Removal Permits and will take place at City Hall. This workshop will explore the city’s code on tree removal, which includes definitions in the tree code and criteria for issuance of the many tree permits and demonstrate how to properly complete an Application Checklist for a Type II permit.
Associate Planner in the Planning and Building Services Department, Daphne Cissell, will lead this workshop along with Morgan Holen, the contract arborist for the city. This workshop will be on Thursday, August 15 from 5:00 to 6:30 pm.
