Scouting event set for Bend

An event for members of the Bend Area of the Crater Lakes Council of the Boy Scouts of America will see Scouts offered the opportunity to earn three different merit badges.

The Merit Badge Fair will be held in two sessions, and the boys are encouraged to participate in both so that they can earn their Fly Fishing, Snow Sports, and Composite Materials badges. One class for each of these will be held outdoors, and the instruction will be spread over the two dates. The organizers noted that partial credit will be given to any boy who is not able to complete all of the requirements.

Parents or guardians who are registering a boy for the sessions are asked to ensure that they bring along a merit badge card that has been signed by their scoutmaster. They have also been requested by the planners of the event to sign their son up under his own name, as this makes it easier to keep the event organized. Registration and other business forms for this type of occasion can be supplied by a print company in the local area.

The Merit Badge Fairs will be held on February 24 and March 10, and will be taking place at 2555 NW Shevlin Park Road in Bend. There is no fee being charged to any scout who would like to participate.
