Cello tribute to Stevie Wonder coming to Bend

The Tower Theatre in Bend is once again hosting a concert with the Portland Cello Project.

The band is known for their eclectic body of work encompassing more than 1,700 pieces. Though the Portland Cello Project has performed at the Tower Theatre in the past, this latest concert will focus on one famous musician’s work in particular.

Organizers said the concert will be a “rousing salute to the musical genius of Stevie Wonder,” the R&B singer-songwriter whose works include the hit songs “Superstition,” “Living for the City” and “Isn’t She Lovely,” among others.

Originally formed in 2006, the Portland Cello Project began as a one-off gig of nine classically trained cellists performing in the Rose City’s Doug Fir Lounge. Since then, the band has gained national recognition, performing in venues as diverse as orchestra chambers to punk bars, as well as at street festivals. They’ve performed in every U.S. coast and region, and even participated in TED Talks and flash mobs

Musicians who perform at concerts like these may want to use a logo design service to make their brand stand out.

The Portland Cello Project is performing on April 23 at 7:30 p.m. at the Tower Theatre in Bend at 835 NW Wall St. Tickets range from $34-$59 (plus a $6 historic preservation fee) and can be bought online.
