Blacksmithing workshop on the way to Bend

The town’s blacksmith shop used to be an important center of the community, and while the art may not be quite what it was, an upcoming workshop wants to share the fun of working with molten metal.

A class that will introduce some of the basics of blacksmithing will be on offer for Bend learners this March. Run at DIYcave, everyone will get hands-on experience, and it is limited to those age 16 and up.

The class, which will run for two hours, will cover an assortment of topics that can help newbies to learn the art and science of shaping hot steel. They will shape, taper, and punch the metal to craft a bottle opener they can us in their own home kitchen. According to the event listing, this provides a good foundation for anyone who would like to register for the Forge Basics Series but is not sure it would be a good fit for them. The materials and tools needed will be supplied.

Many people like to challenge themselves by learning new skills, and a workshop gives them a chance to do so. Registration Forms as well as Letterheads for an organization hosting educational events can be prepared by area printers.

This easy introduction to the art of blacksmithing has been planned for March 11. It will be on offer starting at 10:00 am at 444 South East Street in Bend.
