Bend yodels at Oktoberfest

Locals can have fun at the Bend Oktoberfest while supporting their community.

The free Oktoberfest will offer food, contests, and games. The Mirko Pressler Band will play Oompah music and guests can enjoy a presentation on medieval combat. Poster printing is one way event organizers can get the word out about this event.

Attendees can purchase Bavarian foods such as bratwurst, dumplings, and German sausage pizza. In addition, there will be treats such as cotton candy and kettle corn. Local breweries will be on site pouring a variety of brews. To try the beer, attendees must purchase a stein. If they prefer, guests can also enjoy cider and wine.

The Bend Oktoberfest Games will allow guests to participate in funny activities, such as a yodeling contest, a tricycle race, or the ‘hammerschlagen’, which is a race where participants have to hammer nails into a table. There will also be a Wiener Dog Parade and a race. Contests will have prizes.

Kids can enjoy a bounce house. They can also get their faces painted or try out a glitter tattoo.

Proceeds from the event will go to the Downtown Bend Business Association, a nonprofit organization that deals with the upkeep of the downtown area.

The fun takes place on September 18 from 5:00 pm until 10:00 pm, and on September 19 from noon until 10:00 pm. Oktoberfest will be held on Oregon Avenue.
