Bend workshop to explore cheong and wild sodas
Carbonated beverages can be made in a variety of ways, and a Bend workshop will utilize probiotics to produce natural sodas.
These “wild sodas” will incorporate simple syrup and other ingredients to create healthy and flavorsome drinks. Both cheong, which is a fruit preservation method common in Korea, and wild soda fermentation methods will be on the agenda. The interactive activity will include a demonstration where attendees will learn about what makes the two methods different. The event may kick start a fun family project.
There will be time for taste testing, and along with the opportunity to make some mocktails, fruit leathers will be on the agenda. The health benefits of probiotics will be reviewed. Passes may be purchased in advance or on the day of the event, either at the venue or online, and are priced at $25.
A culinary activity may provide an introduction to a particular food preparation method. Recipe cards, printed aprons, and other items for a class or workshop can be ordered from an area printer that prepares customized corporate gifts
This introduction to the art of Cheong and Wild Sodas will be offered at The People’s Apothecary, located at 1841 Northeast Division Street in Bend, on Saturday, November 2, running from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm. It is suitable for all ages.
