Bend races on special day

Bend locals can celebrate the fifth of May with a race.

The Cinco De Mayo 5K and 10K will be a timed event that starts in Downtown Bend. Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers.

Registration costs $30 for adults and $25 for those under 21 years of age. A visor will be given to the first 250 registrants. Individuals can register online, at Fleet Feet Sports, by calling 541-389-1601, or on the day of the event until 6:30 pm.

Participants who are 21 years old and over will be given a wristband so they can try a special beer at the post-race celebration.

Proceeds from the event will go to help the Latino Community Association. It’s likely the organization used a banner printing service to promote the event.

Packet pick up will take place on May 4 from noon until 6:00 pm, and May 5 from noon until 2:00 pm. Pick up will be held at Fleet Feet Sports, located on 1320 Northwest Galveston Avenue. Participants can also pick up their packets from 3:00 pm to 6:30 pm on race day at the Fleet Feet Sports tent that will be located on Northwest Minnesota Avenue.

The race kicks off on May 5 at 7:00 pm. The race starts and finishes at the Mexican and Peruvian restaurant Hola, located on 920 Northwest Bond Street.
