Bend fun run to ring in the holiday season

Each year, Bend comes together to support the Jingle Bell Walk, and this year will be no exception.

The event, which helps to kick off the Bend Christmas parade, is organized in support of the Arthritis Foundation. Participants can choose to run, walk, or, if they need the assistance of a mobility device, roll along the five-kilometer or one-mile route option, and all ages and ability levels are invited to join in. Pets and strollers are also welcome.

The activity is planned to be both fun and educational. The runner, walkers, or rollers will have an opportunity to learn more about the Arthritis Foundation and how it supports those living with conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, lupus, and other related conditions that are often very painful and even debilitating.

Those who plan on taking part in the run are encouraged to arrive decked in their holiday best, or they can even take it up a notch and come wearing their favorite ugly holiday sweater. Each participant is asked to tie bells to their shoelaces to add an even more festive air to the occasion. Banners and other printed materials for a function like this can be provided by an area printer.

The Jingle Bell Walk and Run has been organized for December 2, and it will be taking place in the city’s downtown. More information about the day has been added to the event’s website.
