What's Happening in Bend, OR…

Bend environmental project seeking volunteer helpers

An opportunity to engage in environmental stewardship will soon be on offer in Bend, and the volunteers will be doing their part to help keep a local river and riparian area clean.

The Upper Deschutes Watershed Council has made arrangements to host its 23 annual river cleanup day, and all ages are invited to get involved. The work will be taking place in the stretch of the Deschutes that spans the area between Drake Park and Slough Campground, and the helpers will head out at 10:00 am.

The group of environmental stewards will work both in and around the river. They will be picking up trash and other debris, pulling up invasive weeds, and removing junk from the water. Divers will be taking larger pieces of garbage from the river, and those who bring along their canoe, paddleboard, or kayak will be able to help them.

The more people who show up to lend their support to this project, the greater the impact it will have. Flyers can be helpful in getting the word out to the public about this sort of event, and these can be sourced from an area flyer printing professional.

Bend residents who would like to show their local environment a little bit of love are invited to be at Riverbend Park on July 27 to take part in this event. More details are available, and anyone with questions has been asked to contact 541-382-6103 #33.
