Bend chosen for national athletic events

The USA Track and Field has announced that Bend will be the host city for next two USATF Cross Country Championships.

Announcing the news, which will no doubt fuel a hive of Print activity from printing companies in Bend over 2016 and 2017, the head of the USATF, Max Siegel, said:

“Bend proved to be a wonderful host when the city staged the Club Cross Country Championships in 2013,

“Our athletes had a great experience and we’re happy to introduce Bend to another group of elite athletes who will be competing at an individual level.”

Much the same course that featured in the 2013 event will be used for the competitions. Set around the city's River’s Edge Golf Course, there will be a few changes, but the route will remain largely unaltered.

A former USATF champion, and Bend local, Lauren Fleshman was delighted with the news, saying that it embodies the passion of the cross country community here in the town.

Though much of the focus of poster printing will be on the big athletes competing for the titles, the event is also open to amateurs. There are a number of open categories too, including youth sections.

It is also hoped that the event will boost visits to the city through what is a traditionally slow time, with local firms hoping to cash in by increased trade.
