Westerville workshop to teach mixed media techniques

Daylight Artist Collective in Westerville will host the Encaustic Mixed Media Workshop next month for anyone interested in learning to incorporate mixed media techniques into their artwork.

The workshop will be taught by Erin Wallace of Daylight Artist Collective. Erin is self-taught in a variety of art mediums, including quilting, textiles, digital photography, and most recently, watercolors. Her Encaustic Mixed Media Workshop will be held at the Daylight Artist Collective, which is an artist-supported art studio and collaborative space containing resident artist spaces and hosts various creative workshops for the public.

The class will focus on teaching participants about the basics of encaustic painting, building a foundation of its core concepts and its various techniques and tools. Encaustic painting is an art technique that utilizes hot wax to create paint, and the mixed media portion refers to adding materials such as photography, paper, or three-dimensional objects to the painting. For the February workshop, students will focus on making Valetine’s Day-related pieces.
