The Columbus based cookie enterprise, Cheryl's Cookies, will be opening a new flagship store as its headquarters in Westerville on August 8.
The new space, which comprises 3,000 square feet, will focus on having customers enjoy cookies in house, rather than taking them home. The space will also be available for such activities as meetings, showers, and birthday parties. In addition, the new store will bring 100 jobs to Westerville in the next three years.
The idea behind the store is a long way from the shop opened in 1981 by college roommates, Cheryl Krueger and Caryl Walker. Located in Columbus, the store sold only six different cookies, as well as sodas. Within seven years, the company had added desserts and gifts to the items it sold, and changed its name to Cheryl's. As Cheryl's grew, they added new desserts like fancy cookies, cakes, and brownies, as well as seasonal treats.
Today, Cheryl's has a number of retail stores in Ohio, does a lot of business online, and provides business gifts, all from its headquarters in Westerville. This new addition to the facilities the business provides will be a boost for the whole area.
The new store's opening is planned for August 8, at 646 McCorkle Boulevard in Westerville. The managers of the new location could work with a banner printing company to create a fun banner to display at the site to celebrate the opening.
