Westerville Library to host Derby-themed fundraiser

Next month, the Westerville Library will hold the A Day at the Derby Experience, a Kentucky Derby-style fundraiser that is intended to raise money for various library programs.

The event will celebrate the Kentucky Derby horse race, a sporting event that is often considered “The Greatest Two Minutes in Sports.” A Day at the Derby will invite the community of Westerville to come out and enjoy special Derby-style foods and signature cocktails. The menu will feature items such as watermelon mint salad, Kentucky Benedictine sandwiches, country biscuit sandwiches, shrimp and grits, and Derby Pie.

Other Derby activities include a Derby outfit contest in which people can enter dressed in their best Derby fashion. There will also be a 50/50 raffle and a silent auction to participate in. Those interested in the actual horseracing should note that there will be a group watching event of the race. Proceeds raised from the event will go to such programs as 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten and the Summer Reading Challenge.

Organizers of fundraising events like this may choose to advertise their event using Posters, which can be printed professionally in bulk at many local Print shops specializing in poster printing.

The Derby-style fundraiser is scheduled to take place on May 3 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm. It will be held at North High Brewing, located at 250 South State Street.
