A special event in Westerville will be held again this year, using different guidelines.
The Westerville Lions Rudolph Run/Walk 5K is a signature event that usually gets the Westerville Lions Children's Christmas Parade underway in December. However, because of the ongoing health crisis, the race will be virtual this year.
In addition, the decision has been made to cancel the parade entirely, and hold it next year better than ever. Also, since the race will be a virtual run, the Elementary School Challenge will also be dropped for this year.
The fundraiser benefits local organizations, including the Westerville Public Library and Westerville Caring & Sharing, which helps support families and students in the Westerville City School District who need assistance, particularly at holidays, and the start of school. Funds raised from the race also help fund scholarships for seniors at the city's three high schools.
The time to complete the run or walk starts December 6, and finishes December 13. Participants may run or walk their own route wherever they prefer, but although people will not be together, holiday costumes such as Santas, elves, and reindeer antlers are encouraged, and can be submitted to the Lions website. Registration is $25, and ends December 6 at 2:00 pm. Brochure printing can be used to create pamphlets about events like this that can be mailed to locals.
