Tradition to be observed in Westerville

A traditional holiday event will be held again in Westerville, bigger and better than ever.

The Tree Lighting Ceremony will be transformed into a complete celebration, all to take place in Uptown Westerville, with some new activities this year.

There will be great food courtesy of food trucks, and cookies and hot cocoa will be given away. Seasonal games and crafts will be available, and festival attendees will be able to enjoy rides in horse-drawn carriages. A pony carousel is also planned, as is a petting zoo.

An ice-skating rink will be open for most of the day. Skates will be provided, and the cost is only $5 for a half-hour. Holiday characters will be available for meet-and-greet sessions; those taking part are The Grinch and Rudolph, plus the “Frozen” characters Olaf, Anna, and Elsa. The Children's Holiday Gift Shop will be found at City Hall, inside the City Council Chambers.

Finally, families who want to see Santa have two chances to do so: from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm, and again from 7:30 pm until 8:30 pm. The Jolly Old Elf will be inside City Hall, and people are invited to use the north entrance to meet him.

The fun is set for December 4, beginning at 5:00 pm and continuing until 9:00 pm. The Tree Lighting Ceremony proper will take place at 7:00 pm. Banner printing can create festive seasonal decorations for events like this.
