Workshop to help kids rebuild social skills

A Middleburg Heights workshop will help parents support their child as they navigate their way back to post-Covid normality.

Virtual classrooms and other measures that have been taken in response to Covid have posed challenges for some children. Dr. Meghan Barlow, who will be the facilitator for the occasion, will address the negative behaviors that may have been developed and help parents find new and positive ones to replace them.

The organizers of the session explained that children may have become fearful of socializing with others or too attached to electronics at the expense of spending time with friends in the “real world”, but the grownups in their lives will be able to help them regain their confidence and also any lost social skills. It is intended for adults only, and a portion of the presentation may be recorded for future use.

By giving them tools they can use along with actionable tips, an event like this can be useful to area parents. Print shops will be able to craft activity Books for the registrants to take home to help their child regain and practice their skills.

The Westlake Porter Public Library has made plans to offer this presentation on November 16. It is being offered thanks to support from Connecting for Kids.
