Renovation is underway at the former Burlington Coat Factory store site in the Southland business district. Pride One Construction, an Ohio-based construction firm, plans to create both high-end apartments and retail space in a $50 million development. Plans include over 190,000 square feet of living space as well as 14,000 square feet of space for retailers, bars, and restaurants. The vision includes trails connecting to existing walking paths, as well as an outdoor plaza. Grand openings can be publicized through banner printing and other services from Print shops.
According to the city’s Economic Development Director, Charles Bichara, much of the credit for the burst of local building activity in town is due to the city’s willingness to assist developers in repurposing old properties. He recently had this to say on the matter:
“I think people are recognizing there’s a different dynamic since Mayor (Matthew) Castellitook over in 2019. “If you’re not improving, you’re falling behind.”
Demolition work on the former Burlington building should be complete by November 2025.
Pride One Construction began over 20 years ago in land development and home building. Since that time, the company has turned its attention to commercial development and construction, creating over 75 new buildings in northeast Ohio. It has since expanded into Wyoming, California, Indiana, and Michigan.
