A rain garden can provide a lot of benefits for the property owner, and the Middleburg Heights area will soon be able to access online learning materials that offer the inside scoop on these helpful additions to the home landscape.
The Cuyahoga Soil and Water Conservation District has prepared an online learning opportunity that will provide a deep dive into the benefits of incorporating a rain garden in property’s landscape design. Everyone who participates can learn at their own pace.
The workshop will explore how these gardens can benefit the environment by absorbing excess runoff during heavy rains. This can help to keep pollutants out of waterways, and they can be designed so that they are as attractive as they are functional. The registrants will need to view all of the content and complete the assignments, and then install a rain garden, rehab an old one or adopt a public one in their community. Once this step is complete, they will receive a Master Rain Gardener certificate as well as a t-shirt.
Learning ways to be kind to Mother Nature may be easier than one may think, and a workshop can help point the way. Learning materials, certificates of completion and other hard copy items for a class can be ordered from area Stationery partners.
