An upcoming Middleburg Heights event will show how wild species can also have a place on the table.
Those who register for the spring session of the ‘Edible, Medicinal and Herb Plant’ series of classes offered by the Midwest Native Skills Institute will discover the joys of foraging, and it will be a full-day experience. The registration fee is $60 per person, and a special discount is being offered to those who sign up with a friend.
The group will be spending the day out in the field, learning how to ID edible plants. The organizers explained that it will give the learners a chance to see them when they are just starting their spring growth, and as they will be young and tender, they can make excellent additions to the table. Everyone is asked to wear appropriate clothing and footwear, and it is also suggested they have a camera at the ready so they can take photos of the plants to aid in future identification.
