A unique birding experience is being organized in Mentor for this autumn, and nature enthusiasts will want to sign up to learn more about local bird species.
The Headlands Birding Festival 2025, presented by the Friends of Headlands Beach State Park, is preparing to bring a renowned naturalist to Mentor soon to lead an excursion that will shed light on the native bird species around Mentor. It’s a celebration of the fall migration of bird populations, as the birds' excursion focuses on traveling thousands of miles to their winter nesting areas.
The Mentor Marsh area is home to some of the most diverse bird population groups in North America, giving birding enthusiasts a rare opportunity to see their favorites in the wild. The bird species noted in this region number 352. Brochure printing can provide more in-depth information for participants on such nature excursions for a more immersive experience.
The festival will be led by Julie Zickfoose, an acclaimed naturalist and writer from Ohio’s Appalachian foothills. Before Zickfoose gives her speech, local wineries will offer samples to guests to try. The birding trip will follow along the Lake Erie coast on Saturday before heading to the Headlands.
The festival kicks off on Friday, September 19th, at 3:30 PM. It will be held at Headlands Beach State Park. Tickets can be purchased online starting on August 1st.
