Sewing workshop offers learning opportunity in Mentor

Mentor residents who want to gain familiarity with sewing machines and their capabilities will want to save the date, as an introductory workshop is coming to town.

The Introduction to Sewing at the Wildwood Cultural Center has opened registration online, allowing interested parties the chance to learn a new skill in a warm and welcoming environment. The instructor will teach attendees all the basics when it comes to using a sewing machine, including threading the machine’s needle and learning several basic stitches.

The skills taught to students will culminate in stitching a pillow to take home with them at the end of the event. Interested parties will need to bring their own sewing machine to participate, and the workshop is open to individuals 12 years of age and older. Print shops can provide organizers and the instructor with quality documents that share tips and instructions to bolster the learning experience.

Registered students will also need to bring any necessary foot pedals to operate the sewing machine, sewing scissors, a fabric pen or pencil, a ruler, and clips or straight pins. The class will be led by April Smith.

The Wildwood South Wing in Mentor will host the learning workshop on Wednesday, February 18 at 6:00 PM. Tickets are $30 for Mentor residents, with an additional $15 due to the instructor after the event.
