Orchestra auditions to take place this fall

The Mansfield Symphony is looking to fill some open positions in its orchestra and will conduct auditions in September.

The Renaissance Performing Arts center hosts the symphony and is a historic venue that produces symphonic music and live performances. Its mission is to bring out the imagination in all who visit the venue.

Those interested in applying could work with a local Print company to obtain a résumé that will stand out from all the others. There are a variety of open positions, which include Principal Cello, Principal Bass, Principal Bassoon, Principal Oboe, Principal Timpani, Principal Tuba, and Principal Percussion. Also open are two Section Violin and two Section Bass positions, along with a Section Cello opening.

The center hosts several events throughout the year and is always looking for volunteers to help support its concession stands, as well as usher, ticket taker, and bartender positions. Several other volunteer opportunities are available as well.

The center is also open to accepting donations and sponsors. Funds collected help support the theatre in many ways, including the Renaissance Education Department, which provides programing to students in the community, often exceeding 15,000 students a year.

The auditions will take place on September 16, 23, and 24. Interested applicants will need to submit a one-page résumé before September 10. The Renaissance Performing Arts center is located at 138 Park Avenue West.
