The cold month of January can be a great time for those who are interested in environmental stewardship to take part in an indoor learning session, and one of these is on the agenda for Mansfield.
A workshop is on the way that will explore a wide variety of invasive species. It has been organized by the Richland Soil and Water Conservation District, and special guest speakers will address the attendees.
The discussion will center on invasive species that can be found on the land or water, which may enter the environment via backyard ponds and in other ways as well. They may pose a threat to ecosystems and also local economic interests and recreational spaces. During the workshop, participants will learn how to identify them, and control tips will be shared. Janell Baran and Mark Warman will serve as the facilitators, and the activity will wrap up with a review of some recent discoveries related to aquatic plants.
