Mansfield studio set to offer potter experience

Potters have been using wheels for centuries to create items that are both beautiful and practical. Mansfield residents who have always wanted to try their hand at throwing clay are welcome to register for a special activity that will give them a chance to get their hands dirty.

Mansfield Arts Center is offering a mini pottery wheel throwing experience, and it can be a chance for people to find out if it is the hobby for them. The participants will each be working on a one on one basis with Debra Weaver, and she will teach them the fundamentals of creating pottery using a power driven wheel.

Each of the learners will have a chance to use the pottery wheel, and the session will be focused on technique. Once a piece is complete it will be fired, and the participants will each be notified when theirs is ready for pick up.

The organizers of the day explained that as the timeslots are back to back, the registrants should make sure they arrive on time. As safety is often top priority in this sort of creative learning environment, Print shops can prepare large sized signage that outlines the studio’s safety rules, and this can help to create an enjoyable experience for all who attend.

This chance for newbie potters to get their hands in the clay will be offered on January 4. The venue for the activity is located at 700 Marion Avenue.
