Mansfield project seeking helping hands

A special day on the way for Mansfield will show that planting a tree today is an investment in the future.

Anyone who would like to get involved in some grassroots level environmental stewardship is welcome to roll up their sleeves and be part of an activity with a goal of planting at least 1,000 trees, and building up a food forest for the local community. It has been planned by One Tree Planted, the Food Lab, and Contour Lines, Corp., and it will transform a current brownfield lot into a thriving garden.

Those who register to volunteer will help with an assortment of activities such as planting, mulching, and preparing compost. They can take the skills they learn home with them to use in their own garden, and appropriate clothing, including sturdy footwear, is required. Everyone should also bring bug spray as well as snacks and water. Advance registration will make sure this function goes as planned, and this can be completed via Eventbrite.

Community service projects can be both fun and rewarding experiences. A printer can craft small Corporate Gifts to hand out to the volunteers to thank them for their hard work.

This chance to do a good turn for Mother Earth will begin at 9:00 am on April 16. The lot being worked on can be found at 311 Bowman Street.
