An upcoming event in Lyndhurst will celebrate Easter, but in an unexpected way.
Shanell Penn’s company, Sharcuterie by Shanell, will be conducting an Easter Charcuterie Workshop at the Crate & Barrel.
The instructors will guide workshop participants through the process of choosing the perfect cheeses, meats, nuts, and fruits needed to make the perfect charcuterie board - one that will be a work of art to be enjoyed at Easter. Both experienced charcuterie experts and beginners should enjoy learning about this delicious and tasty option for snacking.
The art of charcuterie is thought to have developed in France, since the nation has a deep culinary history and a tradition of preserving meats - key ingredients in this preparation. However, Italy, Spain, and Germany have all influenced the development of the French dish. Spanish chorizo, Italian prosciutto, and German sausage can all be found in charcuterie.
The Easter Charcuterie Workshop is scheduled for April 13, starting at 6.00 pm. The Crate & Barrel can be found at 24405 Cedar Road in Lyndhurst. Tickets for the workshop are $71, and participants will be able to take their creations home. When they plan an event like this, organizers can work with flyer printing companies to create handouts for attendees, listing ingredients, where to source them, and including instructions for assembling the board.
