Lyndhurst to hold safety course for children

The Lyndhurst Police Officer and Firefighters will be hosting Safety Town 2026 in June.

This is a community program designed for children who will be starting kindergarten this fall. It equips children with the essential knowledge and practical tools they need to become more aware of safety risks and make smarter, safer choices in everyday situations.

This is a hands-on program that offers safety education in an interactive and fun environment. Children will practice and learn about the following topics:

• Rules for fire safety and what to do in an emergency
• How to understand traffic signals, the basics of bicycle safety, and safely crossing streets
• Basic water safety rules for lakes, pools, and other aquatic environments
• How to identify common Signs of safety and understand their meaning
• How to recognize situations that can be potentially unsafe and make appropriate reactions around strangers
• How to board and ride a school bus safely and why wearing a seatbelt matters

There will be two sessions of Safety Town. Session 1 will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am from Monday, June 8 to Friday, June 12, while Session 2 will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on the same days. The cost is $50 per child, and sessions will be held at the Lyndhurst Municipal Complex.
