Unknown superstar to appear near Lyndhurst

A comedian sometimes referred to as an “Underground Superstar” will appear at The Funny Bone in Cleveland, a short drive from Lyndhurst.

T.K. Kirkland is a comedian, podcast host, and businessman who hails from Jersey City, New Jersey, though he was brought up in Compton, California where he began his career touring with the influential hip-hop group, N.W.A. N.W.A., which stands for Niggaz Wit Attitudes formed in Compton in 1987, and are widely acknowledged as pioneers in the gangsta rap genre. The group released one of the most significant hip-hop albums in the genre, “Straight Outta Compton.”

He has gone on to become a favorite of comedy fans, earning the title of the “Gangsta of Comedy” and appearing on a number of comedy specials such as BET Comic View, “Bad Boyz of Comedy,” the “Def Comedy Jam” on HBO, Comicview, Jamie Foxx presents “Laffapalooza,” “Comedy After Dark,” and “Mo’ Funny Black Comedy in America.”

He has appeared on stage with stars such as Lil Wayne, Jay Z, Eminem, and others. He was a presenter at the Soul Train Comedy! Awards in 1993 and was featured in the 2011 documentary “Phunny Business. A Black Comedy.”

T.K. Kirkland will be at The Funny Bone for five performances beginning January 9. The Funny Bone is a full-service restaurant and bar, and attendees are limited to those 21 and older, with valid ID. When they set up events like this, organizers can use poster printing to create advertising for them.
