Lyndhurst welcomes the holidays

The City of Lyndhurst is kicking off the holidays with several events.

First up is the annual Candy Cane Lane, a display that lights up Lyndhurst Park and that people can enjoy on foot. Although the lane is available to residents throughout the holidays, the opening evening includes the formal lighting ceremony.

Patrick Ward, Lyndhurst’s mayor, notes that the evening also includes the opportunity to talk to Santa Claus in the gazebo, enjoy cookies and cocoa in the picnic pavilion, and ride a train around the lot at City Hall. Children will have a chance to write letters to Santa and mail them in the lobby of the community center in the park.

Next up is the annual Hillcrest Concert Band program, which will be held at the Lyndhurst Community Center and will feature seasonal music. People attending are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy for the “Toys for Tots” campaign.

Finally, the Chabad Family Center will host the annual “Menorah on May” celebration, which will be followed by refreshments served in the bays of the fire department at City Hall.

The kickoff for Candy Cane Lane is December 5, from 7.00 pm until 9.00 pm, at 1341 Parkview Drive, behind City Hall. The band concert is December 8, and the menorah celebration is December 26. Special events like these can be enhanced by colorful Posters, which organizers can find at local Print shops.
